A Lochearn Lassie I have been since nineteen sixty one
\nThe influence it\u2019s had has shaped the woman I\u2019ve become
\nThe smell of pine is all it takes, and I\u2019m transported there
\nBack to Vermont, and memories of summers free from care<\/p>\n
There really are no words to say what Lochearn\u2019s meant to me
\nEleven summers spent on \u201cRocky Shores of Lake Fairlee\u201d
\nThe motto \u2013 it still resonates \u2013 each phrase a work of art
\nBe honest, kind, and keep an open mind and caring heart![\"Lake](\"https:\/\/www.camplochearn.com\/camp-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/blog-poem-2-300x231.jpg\")
<\/p>\n
And when I see a fire lit – \u201cKneel Always\u201d comes to mind
\nEach week atop Campfire Hill, where we would always find
\nA time to share with friends – \u201clook up, and laugh and love and lift!\u201d
\nIn our own \u201dGreen Cathedral\u201d – Sunday nights were such a gift<\/p>\n
Camp days brought new activities, with crafts and sports galore
\nI learned to do so many things I\u2019d never done before
\nWith counselors to guide me – so I\u2019d learn to do things right

And help if I got homesick, saying \u201dSweet dreams\u201d every night<\/p>\n
And – OH! – The Blue\/Green rivalries! I\u2019m Green \u2013 yes through and through
\nAnd though I am no athlete \u2013 There is one thing I can do
\nIf you would like to know the words to every Lochearn song
\nJust call me up \u2013 I\u2019ll fill you in \u2013 it won\u2019t take very long!!<\/p>\n
Yes, it\u2019s been true each summer for a century \u2013 and more
\nThat Lochearn Lassies gathered on Lake Fairlee\u2019s grassy shore

Until this COVID 19 came and blew across the world
\nAnd blocked the road to Lochearn Camp, and broke the hearts of girls!<\/p>\n
There\u2019s NO ONE wants to miss one day of Lochearn\u2019s summertime
\nA time with friends, to get away – it really is sublime!
\nTo think a little germ so small could close our Lochearn\u2019s gate
\nWell \u2013 this can\u2019t last!! Camp WILL be back next year – Why you just wait\u2026.<\/p>\n

And THEN \u2013 Oh yes \u2013 the singing will be heard \u2018cross Lake Fairlee
\nOut to the hills and through the pines from campers filled with glee
\nThat life on earth has normalized and camp \u2013 Won\u2019t it be grand?!
\nWill open up – and Lassies can form circles joining hands<\/p>\n
And as the \u201cCouncil Fires burn\u201d and \u201csun sets in the west\u201d
\nThese \u201chours spent at Lochearn \u2013 yes – the times we love the best\u201d
\nCan once more ring with sounds of singing \u201cPeace\u201d and \u201cTaps\u201d each night
\nAnd life as we all know it will go back to being right!!!!<\/p>\n
